Germany is planning special “courts of honor” designed to eliminate Jews from commerce by legal means, it was revealed here by Dr. Otto Jung, a Nazi official, at a public meeting on the raw materials shortage which the country is experiencing. (Jews in business hitherto have been free from legal interference, although in practice they are the target of numerous discriminatory acts.)
Declaring Chancellor Adolf Hitler was on guard against Jews being “restored to power in Germany,” Dr. Jung said:
“Only such merchants who are really of the highest class will have a place in the Third Reich. Others will be ousted from commerce by special courts of honor which we will establish in Germany’s commercial system.”
Propaganda Minister Goebbels’ newspaper, Der Angriff, launched a drive to compel Jewish business men to employ “Aryan” managers who will be directly responsible to the authorities. Existing laws permit Jewish merchants to manage their own enterprises.
The Nazi paper explained its campaign on the grounds that “it’s a nuisance to require the labor authorities to deal with Jewish managers.”
“Employment of ‘Aryan’ managers, “Der Angriff declared, “is self-explanatory. It cannot be demanded of Labor Front officials that they address themselves to Jews, sometimes even in the name of Der Fuehrer.”
