Hosni Mubarak rejected the idea of Egypt maintaining security in the Gaza Strip. Taking charge of security in Gaza if Israel withdraws would be a “trap set for us, because we would find ourselves in a situation of confrontation with the Palestinians,” the Egyptian president told the French daily Le Figaro on Monday. “And if there is a problem, we could find ourselves in conflict with the Israelis.”
