Recommendations urging arms aid to Arab military forces were made to the House Foreign Affairs Committee in secret session today. The press and the public were barred from the hearing on “security” grounds.
Among those who testified were Henry A. Byroade, Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs; Maj. Gen. George C. Stewart, director of the Office of U.S. Military Assistance, and Norman S. Paul, Near Eastern regional director of the Foreign Operations Administration.
