More than 6,000 Jewish refugees, the majority of them state less, have been rounded up in Hungarian frontier districts and deported into Nazi occupied Galicia, it was learned here today.
Raids on Jews are being made also in Budapest with the view of ascertaining whether they are Hungarian born. Those born in any of the former parts of Poland are herded into jails for deportation to German-occupied Poland in accordance with an arrangement existing between the Berlin and Budapest authorities. Passengers on each train reaching Budapest from the interior of Hungary are examined as to their identity, in order to prevent state less and Polish Jews escaping to the Hungarian capital from the provincial towns where they live in constant fear of deportation.
