Hurwitz Elected Leader of Phoenix Temple Fifth Consecutive Year

S. D. Hurwitz was elected rabbi of Temple Beth Israel of this city for the fifth consecutive year. Rabbi Hurwitz is the only permanent rabbi in Arizona, and directs most of the Jewish communal and religious activities there.

A graduate of the Hebrew Union College, he also holds a B. A. degree from the University of Cincinnati and an M. A. from the University of Chicago. Prior to his Phoenix appointment in 1930 Rabbi Hurwitz served as leader of a congregation in Davenport, Iowa.
