Aliens serving in the armed forces of the United States will be granted American citizenship immediately, provided their commanding officers support their applications for naturalization, it was stated here today.
Under the existing laws, citizenship may be conferred upon any soldier who entered the country legally and who has served at least three months in the Army since September 1, 1939. The three-month rule, however, may be waived, it was stated, and the Army will try to facilitate by every means the speedy naturalization of non-citizen soldiers.
