Immigrants from the former Soviet Union make up 13 percent of Israel’s population, according to recently released statistics. With 58,000 of the total number of 850,000, Haifa has the largest number of these immigrants, followed by Ashdod and Beersheba. Almost 60 percent of the immigrants have post-high school education, compared to 40 percent of all Israelis.
