The United Nations Security Council is expected to discuss tomorrow afternoon the inclusion of Egyptian and Israel complaints of alleged armistice violations on its agenda. Ambassador Aubrey S. Eban, who also heads Israel’s delegation to the U.N., is expected to be present during the Council discussion. (Meanwhile, it was revealed late today that Israel Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett, who will head the Jewish state’s delegation to the U.N. General Assembly opening on Tuesday, was scheduled to arrive in New York from Paris by air late tonight.)
Earlier, Israel called upon the Security Council to consider charges that two Arab nations–Egypt and Jordan–were “officially and publicly threatening aggressive action” against it. Israel filed four complaints for the Council’s agenda. They included maintenance of an Egyptian blockade on Israel-bound shipping in the Suez Canal, inability of Israelis to go to their Jordan-held holy places and alleged Egyptian and Jordan violations of armistice procedures.
The move came one day after Egypt had put the Palestine case on the Council’s list for Monday’s session, after scheduled items on Korea and Formose, Egypt’s complaint charged Israel was violating the U.N. armistice by driving “thousands of Palestine Arabs” into Egyptian territory.
