About 100 Jews were arrested in Baghdad, Iraq, just prior to and during Rosh Hashana, it was learned here today. For many of the Jews imprisoned during the High Holy Day season, the action constituted a second confinement, since they had been arrested last June, after the outbreak of the Arab-Israeli Six-Day War, then released upon paying heavy fines.

The Jews in Iraq, of whom only between 2,000 and 2,500 remained until this year, have been subjected to many harassments and discrimination by the Iraq Governments increasing anti-Jewish actions since June 5. Their bank accounts are frozen, they are forbidden to leave the country, and they are denied the privilege of communication with their families abroad.
