A mock invasion of northern Israel was “repulsed” today in large scale summer defense exercises which opened with screaming air raid sirens and civil defense tests in major urban centers, including Tel Aviv.

In the combined air and ground exercises, paratroopers were dropped behind the “enemy” lines to create confusion and disrupt communications.
