Israel Ambassador Eliahu Elath today conferred for over an hour with Assistant Secretary of State Raymond Hare. He was accompanied to the State Department by Dr. Moshe Keren, counsellor of the Embassy.

Asked whether he discussed the question of the Near East arms race, Ambassador Elath said that this matter was not the subject of the conversation. The talk, he stated, involved other questions which could genuinely be called “routine matters.”

Dr. Robert Oppenheimer, former director of the Los Alamos atomic project, will visit Israel in the near future, it was learned here today. Dr. Oppenheimer, who is head of the Institute of Advanced Studies of Princeton University, will visit the Hebrew University, Weizman Institute of Science, and the Haifa Technical Institute.
