Israel and the state of Maryland launched a joint development fund. The $1 million Maryland/Israel Development Fund, launched Monday by Gov. Robert Ehrlich and Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, supports joint high-tech ventures. In the first such venture between Israel and an American state, each side will contribute $500,000 in grants to companies jointly developing products in the areas of telecommunications, electronics, software, life sciences and homeland security.
