For the first time in history the Israeli flag was raised over an Israeli building in Israel last night as German Jews began the celebration of Israel Independence Day.

The flag was raised over the headquarters of the Israel purchasing mission in Germany which will place orders for reparations goods. Earlier, memorial services were held in German synagogues for the Jewish men and women who died in the war of liberation. A special ceremony was held at the grave here of Moses Hess, pioneer Socialist, Zionist and philosopher.
