Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Nissim said today he had cabled leaders of Zionist, rabbinical and community organizations throughout the world, asking them to use their influence to halt the desecration of the Jewish cemetery on Mount of Olives in Jerusalem’s Old City.
The Chief Rabbi said he took the action after a visit to Mount Zion, whence he was able to see the ancient Jewish cemetery through a recently installed telescope. He said he could clearly see a highway being laid from Jericho Road, through the cemetery, to a new hotel being built by International Hotels, a subsidiary of Pan-American Airways.
