President Chaim Herzog swore in Israel’s first Moslem woman judge this week.
She is Aada Sa’ad, who will preside over a traffic court in northern Israel.
Sa’ad, who served as a state attorney in Haifa, was one of 19 new magistrates and junior judges recently appointed.
At the brief swearing-in ceremonies held at the presidential residence. Herzog singled out Sa’ad.
“I want to congratulate you and I hope more judges will follow in your wake,” he said.
