The Israel Foreign Ministry emphatically denied to day that Israel had received any proposals from the Soviet bloc for the supply of arms and described reports of such offers as being without foundation.
(In Moscow, the Communist organ Izvestia denied that the Soviet bloc had offered arms to the Jewish State. Reports to this effect, the newspaper asserted, were “fabricated” by the “enemies of reduction in world tension.”)
Moshe Sharett, Premier and Foreign Minister, is expected to refer at considerable length to the appearance on the Middle East scene of the Soviet bloc as purveyors of arms, when he opens the debate in the Knesset tomorrow on foreign affairs.
