Israel Government Prepares Plan for Alleviating Arab Unemployment

A plan to alleviate the problem of Arab unemployment in Israel, involving the expenditure of 5,000,000 pounds ($1,700,000), has been prepared by the Ministries of Labor and Agriculture, it was reported here today. Arab joblessness in Israel is officially estimated at 6,000 workers.

An extraordinary session of Israel’s Parliament will be held during the current recess of the Knesset to discuss the Government’s three-year austerity program approved by the Cabinet this week. The meeting was planned at the request of leaders of the Herut-Liberal Gahal alignment. They asked for a full dress Knesset debate on Israel’s overall economic situation.
