Minister of Commerce Pinhas Saphir today told the Knesset that the Government has no intention of devaluating Israel’s currency. “There has been no discussion of devaluation of the currency and there is no such intention,” he stated.
The Minister made the statement in reply to a request from A. Rubin, Mapam member of Knesset. Dr. Rubin requested that the Government make an authoritative statement on rumors that devaluation of the Israel pound was being considered.
