Israel honored a dozen Egyptian Jews it recruited for a doomed 1954 intelligence operation. President Moshe Katsav and the military chief of staff, Lt. Gen. Moshe Ya’alon, presented certificates of appreciation Wednesday to the three surviving agents, breaking an official Israeli reticence about the so-called “Lavon Affair.”
