Appointment of Israel G. Jacobson, deputy director of European operations for United HIAS Service, as director for Latin American, was announced today by Ben Touster, president of the agency. Mr. Jacobson has already arrived in Buenos Aires to meet Arthur Greenleigh, executive director of the organization, preparatory to taking over the duties of Mark Turkow, who recently retired from the post.
Mr. Jacobson served as a Joint Distribution Committee director in Greece, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and Italy from 1944 to 1950. From 1950 until he joined HIAS he was national field director of the American Technion Society.
