Israel plans to crack down on illegal West Bank outposts after completing its Gaza Strip withdrawal, a senior adviser to Ariel Sharon said. Dov Weisglass said Thursday that the logistical challenges of preparing for the Gaza withdrawal, which is due to begin in mid-August, had prevented Israel from devoting itself to removing the outposts as required by the U.S.-led “road map” peace plan.
