Israel plans to train 8,000 paramilitary border policemen in riot control this year. Officials said a new section opened at the Border Police Academy on Tuesday dedicated to dealing with nonlethal public disturbances was the result of lessons learned in October 2000, when Israeli police killed 13 Arab citizens involved in pro-Palestinians riots.
