In a sudden raid, Israel police this week-end swept down on the Arab village of Abu Gosh, west of here, and rounded up 105 infiltrees. The raid was begun at dawn and a curfew was immediately begun. Police began a house-to-house search demanding to see Israel Government identity cards, which were issued only to Arabs and Jewish residents in Israel.
Today the muktar of the village telegraphed Joseph Sprinzak, Acting President of Israel, Premier David Ben Gurion and Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett ploading with them to postpone the deportation of the infiltrees until after they had given a hearing to a delegation from the village. The Arab leader’s message declared that the delay was necessary to “avert a calamity which throatens our wemen, children, the aged and innecent men.”
In an Upper Galilce settlement a Jewish guard, Shalom Menachem, was killed last night by marauding infiltrees from Syrian territory.
