President Shazar and Premier Eshkol sent today messages of congratulations to President Johnson on his landslide election victory.
“From Jerusalem, ” the City of Peace, our blessings and hopes go out to you, ” President Shazar said. Premier Eshkol said in his message that President Johnson’s “constructive leadership on behalf of peace, freedom and international fraternity has already given the world renewed hope for a better future. ” Mr. Eshkol also cabled congratulations to Vice President-elect Hubert Humphrey.
