Israel Protests to U.S. Against Detention by Egypt of Israeli Sailor

The Israel delegation here submitted a letter to UN Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold protesting against Egypt’s detention of Michael Zerner, an Israeli seaman taken off a Dutch ship passing through the Suez Canal, it was learned today.

(In Israel, a Foreign Ministry spokesman declared the forcible removal by Egyptian authorities of Zerner, who was a member of the crew of the Dutch ship, is viewed by the Israel Government “with extreme gravity.”)
