A senior official said today that Israel is prepared to give military aid to Liberia to bolster the regime of President Samuel Doe against opposition elements trying to undermine it.

But the question of military aid was not discussed in any detail when Premier Yitzhak Shamir met here recently with the visiting Liberian Defense Minister, Gray Allison, the official said. Shamir however promised to continue economic aid to Liberia.

Liberia and Zaire are the only Black African states to restore diplomatic relations with Israel which were broken at the time of the Yom Kippur War in 1973.
