Israel Regrets Charging American Firm with Yielding to Arab Pressure

The Government of Israel expressed regrets today that it had charged the Hertz car rental company with having yielded to Arab pressure, allegedly exercised through the American Express Agency, and had refused to operate a branch in Israel.

An official statement of the government tourist corporation called the matter a “misunderstanding” due to erroneous information. The Government Tourist Corporation, it continued, “is entirely convinced that Hertz is as ready today as it always has been to operate a branch in Israel.”
