Israel reportedly sent several messages to Syria recently regarding the possibility of resuming peace negotiations. The messages were passed via Arab and Muslim leaders during the past few months. They called on Syria to rein in Hezbollah and return to peace talks, the Ma’ariv newspaper reported. In the wake of the messages, Israeli sources detected a “slight shift” in Syria’s attitude toward Hezbollah.
