Israel responded cautiously to a call by Britain’s ambassador to Israel for a U.S.-led peacekeeping force in the Middle East. “We know the British would like to put new life into the peace process and every initiative is welcomed, but no idea can be forced on the sides,” a spokeswoman at the Israeli Embassy in London told JTA. Ambassador Sherard Cowper-Coles made the proposal at the annual Anglo-Israel Association dinner Tuesday night.
