Israel does not want a dictated peace and is to negotiate with the Arabs for a permanent settlement of the Palestine question, Gershon Agronsky told a press conference today at headquarters of the National Committee for Labor Israel. The editor of the Palestine Post declared that while Israel had won the first round in the war, it was not a walkover for the Jews, “who sacrificed many of their best sons and daughters in the fighting.”
“The Arabs in the Middle East outnumber us forty to one,” Agronsky stated, “and from the long view, it is more important that we reach an accord by agreement, as dictated peace never lasts. We have won because of the character and integrity of cut people, in addition to military skill.” Agronsky will tour the larger cities of the U.S. and Canada this month on behalf of the $10,000,000 Histadrut campaign.
