In a simple ceremony this afternoon, one of the torches borne by Hanukkah marathon runners to Herzl’s Hill in Jerusalem yesterday and presented to Premier David Ben Gurion, was handed over to a United Jewish Appeal representative here for presentation to Henry Morgenthau Jr., general chairman of the U.J.A. Mr. Morgenthau will accept the torch at a special ceremony in New York.

Lt. Col. A. Yishai, who turned the torch over to the U.J.A. representative, said the torch was a symbol of Israel’s appreciation for the outstanding efforts of the American Jewish community in behalf of its establishment, its independence and in the program of large-scale absorption of immigrants.
