Israel Smollar, Labor Zionist, Dies in New York at 61

Funeral services were held here today for Israel Smollar, an active member of the Labor Zionist Organization of America, who died here yesterday at the age of 61. Mr. Smollar, a brother of Boris Smolar, Editor of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, was a founder of the Histadrut Campaign in America. Born in Rovno, Russia, Mr. Smollar came to the United States in 1921. He was active in the Farband movement and in the work of the Jewish National Fund, which had planted 1,000 trees in Israel in his honor in recognition of his services to the organization.
