Israel authorities today threatened “drastic measures,” in accordance with armistice provisions, against Arab infiltrees and marauders unless Jordan gives its “full and sincers cooperation” in halting incidents involving these Arabs. This was made clear at a meeting at Tulkarem of the Israel Jordan mixed armistice commission which was attended by local army and police officers. The meeting was called to discuss the “recent deterioration of local relations.”
The Israel delegates charged that Jordan encourages the marauders by its failure to act even when the culprits are identified and are apprehended with their loot. Both sides will consider measures to improve the situation.
