The Israel Pavilion at the 1962 United States World Trade Fair, at the New York Coliseum, will be opened here tomorrow with a United Jewish Appeal breakfast, at which Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt will speak.
A spokesman for the exhibit, which is in three parts this year, said he expected a substantially larger volume of orders for Israeli products than last year. He declined to cite any figures, however, pointing out that requests for possible orders which develop from prospective buyers are turned over to United States agents for the various Israeli export firms, who seek to complete the transaction.
The Israel exhibit includes a display on the first floor of the huge exhibition building, and two sections on the second floor–one for light industry and another for heavy industry. Israel booked 3,000 square feet of display space for the current exhibit.
A collage of plexiglass panels on the pavilion will show the harbor of Haifa. The light industry exhibit will display candies, canned fruits and vegetables and other foods, religious items and jewelry and clothes. A fashion exhibit will be one of the features of the light industry display. Heavy industry displays include two models of Israel-built Sabras, the light four-cylinder car developed for export sales, refrigerators, irrigation machinery and tires.
A luncheon has been scheduled for the opening day tomorrow for prospective investors in Israel’s economy. The fair will run until May 22.
