Direct trade talks between Israel and the Soviet Union are expected to begin here almost immediately following the arrival today of I. Lapukhin, Soviet trade representative.

It is believed that the Moscow envoy will offer Israel’s textile industry raw materials, chiefly woolens. It is understood in Israel circles that the U.S.S.R. is prepared to offer Israel long term credits for the purchase of such materials.

Gen. J. Stanovski, a high official of the Czechoslovak Air Ministry, arrived last night to negotiate a commercial air agreement with the Jewish state.
