Israel welcomed the U.S. decision to delay its envoy’s return to the Middle East. Stressing support for U.S. mediation efforts, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s office said it hopes the suspension of Anthony Zinni’s mission would put more pressure on Palestinian Authority leader Yasser Arafat to fight terrorism.
