Israel welcomed the U.S. warning against Hamas joining the Palestinian Authority. Ron Prosor, director general of the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem, said Sunday that the congressional move could push the Palestinian Authority to take a stronger stance against Hamas. In a 397-17 vote, lawmakers called on the Palestinian Authority to bar the Islamic terrorist group from running in the Jan. 25 parliamentary elections in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
