Israel will begin easing restrictions it has imposed on Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip in preparation for a possible cease-fire, Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres said. After meeting with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Cairo, Peres said that much progress had been made on a joint Egyptian-Jordanian peace initiative, but “there are still issues that we have to clarify.”
