Israel will begin searching for possible offshore oil deposits within the next few months, it was announced today. An oil prospecting ship, the “Typhoon,” is now undergoing tests in the Gulf of Mexico and is due here soon. It will start drilling along the coast off Ashkelon on the chance that the Heletz oil fields extend under the ocean floor.
