The Israel Army of Defense has increased its power in men and materiel, Brig. Mordecai Makleff, its Chief of Staff, said today in a review of progress made by the defense forces in the past year.
He pointed to the increased number of courses for the training of officers as an indication of how Israel was building up a reserve.
Premier David Ben Gurion took the salute today at a passing-out parade of officercadets somewhere in Israel. In an address to the newly-commissioned office, the Premier, who is also the Defense Minister, declared that the Israel Army officer has in addition to his Army functions, to serve as an educator for new immigrants to Israel and to integrate them into the nation.
