The Israeli Consulate-General announced today a new procedure to facilitate the clearing of standard gift food parcels sent to Israel. The procedure calls on all recognized food parcel agencies to prepay customs at the time of the dispatch of the parcels, in order to “avoid delay in clearing the parcels through customs at the Israel end.
The announcement added, however, that no such arrangements are being made for self-packed non-standard gift food parcels valued at less than 15 Israeli pounds (about $60), where duty will be collected only at the Israel end.” There will also be no change in procedure as regards gifts other than food up to a value of 15 Israeli pounds per shipment,” the announcement said.
