Zvi Ben-Zeev, a former ghetto policeman in Poland who has since emigrated to Israel, was today acquitted in Magistrate’s Court here of charges of having handed over Jews to the Nazis in 1942.
The Judge ruled that after 20 years, he could not convict the defendant on the testimony of two women who were young girls at the time and who had undergone terrible ordeals.
The Judge said that although Ben-Zeev, who was known as Grausam when he was a policeman in the Dombrowa Ghetto, had been identified by two persons, it was difficult to make sure that during an action by Germans they could notice this policeman among so many soldiers and policemen. Grausam was acquitted of similar charges 10 years ago.
