Israeli Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has presented a draft of Israel’s 2004 budget. About $2.25 billion in spending cuts are expected, and media reports say the deficit target will be 4 percent. Following the proposed budget’s presentation, the leader of Israel’s “single mothers” protest, Vicky Knafo, declared a hunger strike to protest scheduled welfare cuts to single mothers.
