Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres said Thursday that the next ambassador to the United States should be considered a political appointee. Peres took the step after the Foreign Ministry’s Labor Board refused to approve the appointment of Danny Ayalon, currently the foreign policy adviser to Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.
