Israeli policemen guarding the Mount Scopus enclave fired warning shots yesterday to drive off Jordanians who entered the area illegally to cultivate it, Israeli officials reported today. No one was hurt.
The enclave, within Jordanian territory, is under Israeli sovereignty but under ad hoc agreements, Jordanian villagers have been permitted occasionally to cultivate land in the enclave. The officials said that this time, the villagers entered without permission.
