An Israeli Institute to provide general and graduate programs for students and laymen opened last night at Yeshiva University. The new project, a joint effort of the University and the Jewish Agency, will be under the direction of Dr. Samuel K. Mirsky, Professor of Rabbinics at the University. It will consist of two accelerated sessions each academic year devoted to general and specialized courses stressing the relationship between Israel and the American Jewish community.
Those completing the prescribed course of study will receive a certificate issued jointly by the University and the Torah-Culture Department of the Jewish Agency in Jerusalem. Participants in the opening ceremony included: Dr. Samuel Belkin, president of Yeshiva University; Rabbi Wolf Gold, of the Jewish Agency; Avraham Harman, General Consul of the State of Israel; and Israeli Consul Eliezer Doron.
