Israeli Labor Party leader Shimon Peres said Yasser Arafat deserved his 1994 Nobel Peace Prize. Citing the Palestinian Authority president’s recognition of Israel and his pledge to abandon terrorism and negotiate a two-state solution as part of the Oslo Accords a decade ago, Peres told a Tel Aviv audience on Monday that it was “right” that Arafat shared the coveted prize with Peres and late Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin.
