Israeli lawmakers called for the creation of a civilian home front command. A Knesset subcommittee on Monday published the result of a six-month study into how Israel handled Hezbollah rocket salvoes during last summer’s war in Lebanon. According to the findings, the military’s home front command failed to provide proper protection to residents of northern Israel, and the government should consider transferring its responsibilities to a new civilian body under the Internal Security Ministry.
