Israeli Officer Killed in Incident Near Egyptian Border

An Israel army officer was shot dead and robbed near the Egyptian border in the first serious incident in the area in several months, the Army spokesman disclosed today.

The officer was with a training group in a Milly region near the southern border when he lost contact with his unit and disappeared. An extensive search operation found his body in a wadi several hours later.

An Arab infiltrator who escaped from Shatta Prison In northern Israel two years ago has been captured along with another infiltrator by Israel forces near the Gaza Strip, the police reported today.
