Israeli police and the army will investigate claims that a Palestinian boy was shot dead by officers dispersing an anti-security barrier demonstration.
Ahnmed Ussam Yusef Mousa was shot in the head and killed Tuesday evening in Ni’ilin, which has been the site in recent weeks of violent protests against the construction of Israeli’s security barrier in the area.
The Israel Defense Forces are investigating the possibility that the boy was killed by Palestinian fire. Palestinians accuse Israeli forces of killing the boy.
Palestinians and border police scuffled Wednesday during the boy’s funeral, attended by thousands, at which Hamas flags were prominently displayed, though the town is generally allied with Fatah, the Jerusalem Post reported.
The army said Wednesday it would send troops with better riot control training to the area.
